Otits (pronounced as Oh-ti-tuss) is latin for the inflammation of the ear and media is latin for middle.
The Eustachian (pronounced as you-stay-shee-un) tube is also known as the auditory tube or also as pharyngotympanic tube. The eustachian tube links the pharynx to the middle ear and is approximately 35mm and the purpose of it is to let in air pressure into the ear to equalize the pressure between the middle ear and the atmosphere. Without the eustachian tube, our ears would easily be damaged.
